I came out of the X32's Dante Card and went to the QL1 at front of house. It represents Waves’ next generation of live plug-in processing for broadcast and live sound engineers. Announced earlier this year, the SuperRack plug-in was released today. All the inputs came into the stage box (Midas DL251) and went to the monitor console via AES50 (Midas/Behringer protocol). With yesterday’s V11 update, Waves said it’s integrating the functionality of its MultiRack, SoundGrid and StudioRack plug-ins into SuperRack. For example, I recently purchased a Yamaha QL1. You can route signal to and from any of the devices.Īlso, it can work with some of your current devices if they have Dante card options. They are labeled as Dante Transmitters and Dante Receivers. From there you can see a matrix of the devices I/O. All of the Dante enabled gear whether it be a stagebox, another mixer, a computer running Dante Virtual Soundcard, shows up in the control program, Dante Controller. However, there is plenty of additional flexibility in routing the 64圆4 pipe. If you are just using the Dante network for the snake, Kieran's comments are spot on. You have the option to run a single network (Primary)or a redundant network (Primary and Secondary) as a failsafe. It works with regular off the shelf network switches and cabling. I think it is way ahead in the protocol standards race. You could use a DAW even.Dante is pretty slick.

It shall include Dante connectivity as standard to allow flexible system configuration in combination with R series I/O rack units. It's only a matter of how much latency you can stand. The Yamaha QL1 shall be a compact all-in-one Digital Mixing Console that is suitable for a wide range of application including live sound reinforcement, corporate events, and fixed installations.

In regards to other hosts.if you can get audio in, and get audio out, through the host, and the host can run the driver, then it will work. I bought the native only version on sale for $99 several months ago. The weekly sales are better than before they merged native to SG and the regular prices haven't gone up that much.

If you only need a limited number of effects I bet you could get the compact server and card combo for around $850-$900 delivered and that comes with the SG driver in case you wanted to use it native, and multitrack soundgrid and native versions. You don't need the server but there is a core audio bug that causes some excess latency issues sometimes Soundgrid servers are indeed less latent. I have a Gig coming up and looking at the waves y16 Card or the hear.

If you want just a license I have 3, and would be happy to sell one of them. Has any one ever used the Dante to WSG Bridge on multirack with the Yamaha CL5. Multirack makes a great host and it's organized well. It will probably be a month before I measure it. The soundgrid driver is just a core audio driver (on mac) and shows up in the system as an audio device.

Some GUI might suit you and your workflow better than the other, and thats, what its all about, if you don't want to spend all your mixing time scrolling and clicking around on your plug-in hosts computer screen.įinally figured out how to log in. This can be done with demo versions of the plug-ins and of multirack itself. Multirack as a plug-in host is included in this package, as are a few fx-plugins.Īpart from the system requirements for running the plug-ins, I recommend you research the workflow of each plugin-host. If you want to use dedicated Waves hardware to PROCESS your audio, you need the Waves card and a Soundgrid server - for example the Waves Impact Combo or similar. Said issues are also common in using audio interfaces, but you know that, of course. Dante is said to have issues in respect to latency (and following Steven, also in respect to stability), reports can be found on these internet boards, but I have no personal experience of using Dante whatsoever. If you intend to run the plug-ins native on your PC, you just need a way to get audio in and out of this pc. Live Professor works with waves plug-ins.
